ESD-Safe Clothing for Critical Environments
Sensitive electronic components need protection from ESD and from the natural contaminants found on an operator’s hands. ESD Gloves, used in conjunction with other anti-static procedures and devices, help minimize the amount of static electricity and particulates in the work environment. They also provide increased grip for handling small components. And extra protection for handling sharp components.Anti-static finger cots offer greater dexterity over gloves. They can be used for handling Class II static sensitive devices. A broader range of esd safe clothing is available for researchers, students, hobbyists, cleanrooms.
ESD Lab Coats cage charges to the inside of the coat and then dissipate them when grounded. Minimize particle generation with anti-static lab coats minimize particle generation of electrostatic charges. When coming into contact with electronic components, use esd safe gloves alongside your knit cuff lab coat. People are the most common source of electrostatic discharge and can generate static electricity from simply walking across flooring. Keep your electronics manufacturing facilities safe from static build-up by wearing cleanroom-safe apparel. For semi-conductor and electrical component manufacturing, shielding components from static goes beyond manufacturing and includes safe delivery to your customers. Use Static Shielding, ESD-Safe Bags to prevent electrostatic discharge-based damage when shipping electronic components such as processors, motherboards, etc. Transport electronic components with reclosable Static Shielding Bags for hazard-free transportation.
What is electrostatic discharge?
Static electricity is the what makes your hair stand on end. On its own, it is not dangerous. Static build up is a product of contact and separation between two solid surfaces. From the contact, one item loses electrons becoming positively charged. While the other gains electrons, becoming negatively charged. We don’t feel static electricity unless the discharge – the “static shock” – is at least 3500 volts. And that’s just a quick nuisance to us. Sensitive electronic components can be damaged by an electrostatic discharge as low as 20 volts. A personal grounding strap is an effective solution.
How do Static Control Products work?
Antistatic devices, reduce, dampen, or inhibit the buildup of electrostatic discharge. In other words, they carry electric charge away harmlessly. If you work around flammable liquids or gases or delicate electrical devices, invest in anti-static clothing. ESD safe coveralls are the wearable version of the Faraday cage. Clothing, especially those made from synthetic materials, are significant electrostatic charge generators. Worse yet, they also insulate, holding those charges. Meaning you could be walking around with thousands of volts on your sleeves until they neutralize over hours or days. So, if you work in a critical environment, cleanroom, or semi-conductor manufacturer, then invest in clothing that is the wearable version of a Faraday cage. If not designed to be esd-safe, clothing made from synthetic materials are significant electrostatic charge generators. Available to ground your tables, workstations, and floors. ESD-safe white resistor shoes complement anti-static table mats.
Does your critical environment need ESD Swabs?
Looking for anti-static cleaning swabs? These high-quality ESD swabs are made with special anti-static handles and have unique tips - including tips made of ESD conductive foam, polyester, cotton and non-woven materials - that are preferred for their anti-static attributes. Clean your equipment while controlling electrostatic buildup with ESD clean room wipes. These ESD (electrostatic discharge) polyester knit fabric lab wipes are used to clean sensitive lab equipment. Use wherever the control of electrostatic buildup is essential.
