Bouffant Caps
Disposable Bouffant Caps
What are bouffant caps used for?
A bouffant cap is a loose fitting hat, generally secured around the head with elastic. Bouffants are used in cleanrooms to prevent particle generation. Bouffants have uses in salons and spas to keep product in the hair for a set time.
Bouffant caps offer you the best defense against contamination in food processing facilities, laboratories, medical, pharmaceutical, and general industrial settings with a comfortable design that your workforce will appreciate. Many industries mandate the use of hair covers to prevent particles from reaching products or equipment.
To ensure the comfort of all-day wear, materials like 100% non-woven polypropylene material are known for being lightweight and breathable while your head stays comfortable and protected. An elastic headband securely, yet gently wraps your head for the perfect fit. In addition, they effectively keep hair out of your eyes and away from your work area.
We conveniently offer several sizes so you can find the one that fits you best. When choosing the size, remember that the one you need is based on the volume of hair; more hair coverage means you need a bigger bouffant. All are latex-free for those who are allergic to latex.
Keep your head covers neatly organized with a bouffant dispenser. Mount them to a wall or place them on a table or desk for easy access.
What is a bouffant made from?
Polypropylene is good material for a bouffant because of its lightweight yet secure fabric that securely fits to the wearer’s head and protects your businesses’ critical components.
When the use of a heavy-duty bouffant is necessary, our Blue SMS Caps are ideal for when a dry particulate barrier and liquid repellency are needed. Made from three-layer SMS material, they are strong, durable and provide great protection and excellent breathability. They are also non-linting and highly resistant to tears and punctures.
Another high-performing cap option is the White Microporous Bouffant Cap. Microporous materials are the best choice for wet and dry applications where superior barrier and repellency are needed against non-toxic liquid spray, dirt and dust. We also offer Tyvek Bouffants in 21" and 24" sizes.
Is a bouffant cap the same as a hair net?
Yes a bouffant cap has a single layer design that prevents particles from generating in cleanroom settings whereas a honeycomb hairnet has a design to keep hair in place but allows static to generate. Bouffant caps also have uses in medical settings whereas hair nets are generally used in food handling and processing. The use of hair covers may be regulated by OSHA, the FDA, or another regulatory agency depending on the commercial use. The scrub caps used to treat patients are a different hair covering than those used in food service. The head cover you need may also require lint free materials that don't shed material and damage components in cleanrooms or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Is a disposable bouffant a type of personal protective equipment (PPE)?
Yes a disposable bouffant cap is a type of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Bouffant caps can be used in medical settings and generally have spunbond-meltblown-spundbond (SMS) materials. SMS is a sturdy physical barrier with a high tensile strength despite being lightweight.
The wearer will appreciate the soft material, comfort, breathability, and maneuverability. SMS material repels water and blocks bacteria, blood, mucus, and other non-hazardous liquids from entering. Choose the one size that works as a head cover for the majority of your staff and remember our head covers are 100% latex free to remove the possibility of latex allergies.
