Disposable Coveralls
The most popular styles of disposable coveralls are those with a hood, and those with a hood and elastic wrists and ankle closures. Coveralls with elastic wrist and ankle closures like the ty125s provide multi-functionality for hospitals, industrial manufacturing centers, and household tasks that require protection from asbestos and mold. Secure your boot covers with the elastic ankles and prevent dust and debris from entering your sleeves with the elastic wrists. Both offer sure-fire ways to add protective value to your disposable coveralls.
Hooded coveralls enable maximum productivity and safety while on the job and are designed to move with you comfortably without inhibiting any activity. Depending on the material you choose, hooded coverall protect against dust particles and liquid hazards. Hooded coveralls offer comfortable protection by combining different aspects of disposable apparel into one jumpsuit. The unique woven material you choose will protect against your workplace hazards. General maintenance, spray painting, and cleanrooms frequently utilize hooded coveralls in their hazard protection.
When you need maximum protection, disposable coveralls with hood and boots are the answer, especially in environments when you are mixing and spraying chemicals or dealing with particulate. They offer extra protection against contamination while keeping workers safe.
What are disposable coveralls?
Disposable coveralls provide basic protection from grime, dirt, and dust in medical, industrial, and household environments. Regardless of the material you choose, you can expect basic protection from dust hazards.
Disposable Coveralls, also called jumpsuits, are an ideal choice when working around chemicals or other dirt, grime and particulate matter. Your industry or application may be mandated by OSHA or NIOSH to provide employees with compliant coveralls and other disposable apparel. If you are unsure then contact our sales staff who can guide you with their decades of experience.
You can shop for disposable coveralls based on their material, brand, or style. You may also choose your coverall based on whether you need an attached hood, boot, or both.
What are coveralls made from?
At Harmony, we stock different coverall spun-bound materials: microporous, polyethylene coated, SMS, and Tyvek.
Microporous coveralls are not actually a new material. It references a film that overlays spun-bonded polypropylene which is widely utilized in medical and industrial applications where a waterproof barrier is required. Infectious droplets beed off the microporous film like rain drops. The material is durable, lint-free, anti-dust, anti-bacterial, waterproof, and has a light natural static resistance.
PE Coated Coveralls attempt to be comparable in function to Tyvek for less demanding environments. Just like the microporous film, it aids in the protection from dust, debris, and tensile strength. PE provides a high level of fluid resistance.
Harmony provides OSHA and NIOSH compliant safety coveralls and other disposable apparel. We offer fast shipping with product experts standing by to assist you. We fulfill orders fast and have competitive prices. Harmony supplies cleanrooms, hospitals, research centers, and industrial manufacturing centers. We stock top brands like Keystone, Liberty Glove, KleenGuard, and Tyvek.
Are coveralls a type of personal protective equipment (PPE)?
Coveralls are a type of PPE, not frequently seen in hospitals but used in highly infectious settings where the risk of contracting an illness is high. Generally, medical grade PPE does not require the head-to-toe protection of disposable plastic suits. Needless to say, if you are in a hospital setting and the doctor walks in with an sms coverall with a hood and boots, then you're likely very sick. Protective apparel comes in a variety of sizes and must accommodate all movement patterns of the wearer. If you can't bend down without tearing your suit, then you need get a size-up or get a stronger material.
Coveralls, like most PPE, is not reusable. The CDC set guidelines for disinfecting coveralls and masks during the height of the pandemic's material shortages, but does not recommend this during peacetime. The process of disinfecting coveralls can negatively impact your health and wellness if done improperly.
Because coveralls pass EN 14126, you can trust them to meet minimally viable standards for protective clothing against infectious agents, dust, dirt, grime, and tears. The coveralls themselves are not tested, but rather the materials used to create them. That's why its important to get a trusted brand known for manufacturing quality. The five tests to determine a materials strength is as follows:
- ISO 16603: Does the material resist blood and bodily fluid?
- ISO 16604: Does the material resist blood-borne pathogens?
- EN ISO 22610: Does the material resist a biologically contaminated liquid?
- ISO/DIS 22611: Does the material resist liquid aerosols?
- ISO 22612: Does the material resist infectious solid particles?
If the jumpsuit material passes these five standards then it is suitable to be formed into coveralls. There are other types of coveralls that meet further rigorous standards against gasses, liquids and airborne particulate matter. Many materials are used in multiple types of coveralls.
How do I wear a disposable coverall?
Ensure that the suit is free of any tears or rips before attempting to don. Damaged coveralls should not be worn regardless of hazard. Remove any non-essential jewelry and watches that could snag onto the material and tear it. Always ensure the suit fits comfortably, with enough extra space to move around without risking a tear. The best suit should not impede any movement whatsoever. If you got a coverall with a hood and boots, then take extra care. If worn with rubber gloves then use glove connectors to ensure that the sleeves fit snug.
The procedure for removing coveralls is more important for those exposed to infectious hazards. Hazmat and other suits may need to be decontaminated before removing. Always ensure that infectious agents do not come in contact with open wounds. Rolling the coverall down and outward and touching only the inside material of the coverall is a good general rule. Do not reuse ppe even when it does not appear worn.
What size coverall do I need?
If unsure, it is recommended to buy one size up. The user should be able to stretch comfortably and move about in their garment without putting stress on the material. This makes sure that the user is getting the most protection without sacrificing comfort. Before buying bulk coveralls, you should ensure as an employer that you stock sizing that fits all employees. If unsure contact us and we may send wholesalers a sample before committing to bulk orders.
