How to choose lab wipes

Pick a laboratory wipe by the job on the bench rather than by fiber alone. Light tissue wipers handle optics and glassware, absorbent blends take care of spills, solvent-grade wipes stand up to IPA and MEK, and sterile or presaturated wipes belong in aseptic work. The table groups the 18 wipes and papers on this page by task.

Lab wipes by task

Lab task	Wipes here	Material and size	What the listings say	Packs
Lenses, glassware, instruments	Kimtech Science Kimwipes	1-ply tissue, 4.4 x 8.4 or 11.22 x 12.3 in.; 2-ply, 11.22 x 12.3 in.	Light-duty, low-lint, non-abrasive; pop-up box with anti-static dispensing	Box or case; the 2-ply comes 1,800 per case
Spills and absorbent wiping	CleanTex HydroSorb I and Teknipure TekniZorb	Polyester/cellulose nonwoven blends, 4 x 4 in. up to 36 x 48 in.	Absorbent; no chemical binders (HydroSorb); keeps strength wet and with IPA (TekniZorb)	HydroSorb I: 1,200 or 300 per bag. TekniZorb: bags and cases by size
Solvent wiping and metal parts	DuPont Sontara AC1212	12 x 12 in. nonwoven	Holds up to isopropyl alcohol, MEK and MPK; resists snagging; binder-free	100 per bag, 1,000 per case
Lowest particle release	Teknipure TekniClean knit polyester	Ultrasonic sealed edge; 4 x 4 in. to 48 x 48 in., standard or heavyweight	Continuous-filament double-knit polyester; listed for ISO Class 4 (Class 10)	100 or 600 per bag, cases of 10 bags; large sizes by the case
Aseptic and sterile areas	TekniZorb sterile, TekniGamma, TekniClean Presat Sterile	Poly/cell 9 x 9 or 12 x 12 in.; 70% IPA microfiber or polyester, 9 or 12 in.	Gamma-irradiated (TekniZorb, TekniGamma); listed for pharma fill areas, sterile suites and microbiology labs	Packs of 25 to 100; cases up to 3,000
Wiping with IPA, no bottle	TekniSat and TekniPolyPro presaturated	70% IPA polyester 9 x 9 in.; 70% or 91% IPA polypropylene 9 x 11 in.	Pre-wet with IPA and DI water for consistent wetness	Packs of 50 or 75; cases of 750 to 1,800
Protecting the bench	Medline lab countertop paper	12 x 20 in. air-laid sheets with poly backing	Absorbs without leak-through; white so spills show	600 sheets per case

Dry, presaturated or sterile?

Dry wipes let you choose the solvent, or use water. Most of this range is dry, from Kimwipes to Sontara.

Presaturated wipes arrive wet with 70% or 91% IPA, so every wipe carries the same amount of solvent. For general-purpose IPA wipes outside the cleanroom, see alcohol wipes.

Sterile wipes are packed for aseptic areas; the TekniZorb and TekniGamma listings say they are gamma-irradiated. The full sterile range is under cleanroom sterile wipes.

Lab wipes or disinfectant wipes?

The wipes on this page are sold for cleaning, drying and solvent work, not as disinfectants. To disinfect surfaces, use a product sold for it, such as the medical disinfectant wipes, and follow each label's directions and contact time. Grading wipes by fiber release for critical surfaces? Compare lint-free wipes and cleanroom wipes.

What are Kimwipes used for in a lab?

Kimtech Science Kimwipes are light-duty tissue wipers. Their listings describe cleaning lenses, glassware, instruments and parts, and picking up liquids, dust and small particles. They come in a pop-up box that dispenses one at a time with anti-static dispensing, as 1-ply in 4.4 x 8.4 in. and 11.22 x 12.3 in. sizes, or 2-ply.

Do you carry sterile lab wipes?

Yes. TekniZorb sterile polyester/cellulose wipes come in 9 x 9 and 12 x 12 in., and TekniGamma (microfiber) and TekniClean Presat Sterile (polyester) arrive presaturated with 70% IPA. The TekniZorb and TekniGamma listings say they are gamma-irradiated.
