Bump Caps

What are Bump Caps?

Lightweight and comfortable bump cap are not OSHA compliant for workers. OSHA specifically mentioned that bump caps would not provide adequate protection for workers in manholes. However, people benefit from protection against bumps and scrapes when doing contracting, work around the house. Low Profile and Baseball Style Bump Caps won't get in the way while worn in confined spaces and will provide protection when bumping into stationery objects. Again, Bump Caps aren't ANSI rated, so it is important that you select an appropriate head protection suitable for the work you carry out.

Although many bump caps are made from durable plastic, they still do not have the ability to protect from falling debris. It's no surprise OSHA doesn't want construction workers wearing them on the job site. Hard hats provide heavy duty protection. A bump cap's plastic shell is easily encased in a baseball cap, ensuring discreet protection. Almost 33% of work related injuries happen when no head protection is being worn. Bump caps are meant to bridge the gap between jobs that are not overly hazardous nor regulated by OSHA, and jobs that would still benefit from head protection. Some bump caps meet standards for impact resistance set by EN812. Bump caps may be cleaned with soap and water.
