Disposable Beard Covers

What do beard covers do?

Beard covers provide universal coverage against dirt, grime, and other particulate matter. The protection is two-fold: protect against hairs entering your facility and protect your employees from potential hazards. Beard covers are common in the food service industry but also are used in lab and safety environments.

In its most basic form, beard nets keep work environments clean and safe by preventing loose hairs from falling into food or sensitive areas. Generally a beard cover works the same as hair nets do and are often made of the same material. At Harmony we stock disposable beard covers with a polypropylene construction because we have found the material is be excellent for daily protection.

Disposable beard covers are economical, lightweight and breathable, and ideal for daily use. It may not be your choice as not wearing a beard cover could conflict with FDA or OSHA regulations that mandate the use of coverings to prevent body contaminants from entering food processing facilities. You don't want to get fined by the USDA or health inspectors.

Choose from spun-bond polypropylene or nylon honeycomb designs in any size you need. Beard covers are not suitable for full coverage by themselves but can be used with disposable coveralls and other apparel to provide the full coverage that you need. If you can't narrow results down to what you need then give us a call and we are more than happy to help you find the durable beard cover you need for your industry.

What is another name for a disposable beard cover?

Beard cover, beard net, and a beard snood are all terms for disposable beard protectors. Snood is an old term used more often on the East Coast in the United States. Hair nets can also be classified as a snood along with other hair coverings. Lightweight disposable beard nets are not comparable to the old school snoods made of yarn or other materials, but the modern variations are more practical for daily use. If you have a concern about material then contact us for more information.

Are beard nets or covers required by law?

The FDA mandates the use of beard nets in the same way they mandate hairnets. The FDA's 2013 Food Code legislates that food employees wear “hats, hair coverings or nets, beard restraints, and clothing that covers body hair” at work. Medical facilities may require beard covers but they are not required by the FDA or other authority. It may be odd if you saw your doctor wearing a bead cover in the examination room, but it wouldn't be out of place for a surgeon. The industries that require beard nets are only food processing facilities that fall within the jurisdiction of the FDA's 2013 food code.

Where can I buy disposable beard cover?

At Harmony we have beard covers for cleanrooms and industrial processing centers. Polypropylene beard covers are lightweight and have the breathability of more comfortable fabrics like cotton. Most importantly, your facial hair wont penetrate the polypropylene material and will prevent skin particulates from falling as well. If you decide to reuse a beard cover, we recommend lightly sanitizing a beard cover in between use, and ensure you free the material of any debris. Most straps are latex-free elastic bands that won't interfere with face coverings.

Our nylon beard covers meet USDA standards for use in federally inspected plants. Ensure safety, cleanliness and convenience in the workplace by providing beard nets to your employees. We also carry super-convenient beard net dispensers to ensure that your employees always have a quality cover on hand when it's needed the most. We have cases of the highest quality beard nets for sale from Liberty Glove, Keystone, and more. So, if you're wondering where to buy beard nets for a great price with fast shipping and excellent customer service, then Harmony Lab & Safety Supplies is the answer! We're more than happy to assist you with purchasing bulk.
