Personal Grounding
Personal Grounding
People are the most common source of electrostatic discharge and can generate static electricity from simply walking across flooring. That charge stays in place until it can be released on a person or object, and a charge as low as 20 volts can damage sensitive electronic components. Keep your electronics manufacturing facilities safe from static build-up by wearing personal grounding.Use foot grounders on both feet in conjunction with grounded ESD floor mats or an ESD flooring system to reliably ground users and safely discharge static. Harmony Lab & Safety Supplies carries easy-to-install foot grounders to fit any shoe type - and even ESD shoes to skip the fit and fuss. Choose from heel and toe grounders for economic grounding, sole grounders for full contact with ESD flooring, and ESD shoes that are easy to operate and easy to monitor for compliance. Make sure you get one grounder for each feet to maintain the connection.
Wrist grounders should be worn be seated users, even when using heel grounders. Many people lift their heels when sitting, which breaks the ground connection. We carry elastic anti-static wrist straps to ground operators sitting in an ESD Protective work area. They use a 6" coil cord to provide mobility and avoid interfering with an operator's use. If you need "hands-free" operation, shop our ESD Lab Coats with knit cuffs, which can be grounded without an ESD wristband via a coil cord at the waist.
All of our personal grounders are barcoded to provide traceability and ensure quality control, and have built-in 1 or 2 Meg Ohm resistors to provide operator safety.
