Flocking refers to a process of applying the multi-length fibers to an adhesive-coated surface; if a swab has flocking, it is a flocked swab. You would want to use a flocked swab to enhance your sample collection. All flocked swabs have definite advantages for a wide range of sample collection applications. We offer flocked swabs that have a manufacturing process unlike any other.
Our HydraFlock® swab is our high performance product, specifically engineered for a wide range of biological specimen collection. Its unique three-dimensional microstructure design facilitates greater specimen collection and complete elution unlike any other swab on the market today. PurFlock Ultra®'s high purity characteristics make it an ideal flocked swab for PCR, molecular assays, DFA testing, forensic applications, and direct antigen testing. Its uniquely designed fiber structure accounts for better cell yield in the specimen where sample size is limited.
These proprietary and patented processes allow our flocked swabs to help you collect and retain more specimen than your traditional spun-fiber swab made from cotton, polyester or rayon. Our ultrafine flock styles are commonly used for nasopharyngeal specimen collection while the micro-ultrafine style is well suited for small cavities and pediatrics. Therefore, the very best Puritan flocked swab is the one that serves your specific needs for optimal collection flexibility.
Foam swabs are the right tool for any jobs that demand precision, detailing, and cleanliness. The foam is soft and non-abrasive, making it safe for use on even your most sensitive manufacturing or industrial components. They’re also ideal for cleanroom use, as they feature thermal bonding to prevent contamination. While foam applicators are soft enough for gentle cleaning, they’re still sturdy enough to avoid bending, flexing, and folding during regular use. They can be used either wet or dry. With many different configurations available, there’s a specific swab available to meet the needs of any application.
Foam will hold up to High Purity Isopropyl Alcohol along with other solvents. When you need to precisely apply cleaning solvents, adhesives, paints, or lubricants, a regular cleaning cloth won’t do. Foam swabs like the Puritan foam-tipped applicator or the CleanTex Large Foam Swab have an open-cell structure which creates an optimal holding capacity, making it easier for you to perform precise cleanings and applications. They’re also free of adhesives and shred-resistant to keep contaminants away from small machine components.
Rayon is a cellulose based material derived from natural sources. Rayon is more absorbent than cotton, making them useful for specimen collection. Rayon's manufacturing process eliminates contaminants that would damage collection. Some prefer to use Rayon in lieu of cotton in applications that are not concerned with living lint residue behind after collection or application. Sterile swabs come individually wrapped made from highest grade pharmaceutical grade rayon fiber that are easily disposable.
Long handle cotton swabs with pharmaceutical-grade cotton tips ideal for general medical applications.
